Honors Requirements: The requirements for graduation with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology with departmental honors follow those of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. To qualify for graduation with honors in microbiology, a student must achieve a grade-point average of at least 3.25 overall and at least 3.5 in microbiology courses. The student must participate in undergraduate research, completing BIOL 311 (Undergraduate Research Seminar) and at least two semesters of BIOL 308 (Special Problems in Microbiology, Honors). The student must achieve grades of B or better in these courses. The independent research carried out by the student must be prepared as a written report submitted to a three-member faculty panel for approval and presented orally to the department as a part of BIOL 311. The report must be approved and presented before the end of the student's final semester before graduation.
