How do I find a research advisor and laboratory?
It’s easy, and you don’t have to be committed to earning Honors or certification. We want to introduce students to the joys (and frustrations) of carrying out scientific experiments. You’ll learn about science by doing it, and will become a better student and an informed citizen.
Here is all you have do.
1. Think about biology topics that interest you.
2. Read web pages of KU faculty members to learn about research projects carried out by them labs and to find people and projects that seem interesting to you.
Biology faculty members are grouped in two departments, each having slightly different interests and approaches to biology. They are:
Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (EEB)
Molecular Biosciences (MB)
3. If you are interested in a project, contact the faculty member by email or phone, or drop by his or her lab. Explain that you read the description of his or her research and that you want to learn more.
